Burning Joss Paper
1. To propagate the Buddha Dharma, deliver
sentient beings to better realms, and give them benefits.
Through great compassions, Golden Mother
of the Jade Pond, the Heavenly, had specifically bestowed Living Buddha
Lian Sheng with five kinds of heavenly paper jewels. For the benefits of
sentient beings, Living Buddha Lian Sheng then transmitted her teachings
with secretive mantras, dharma, and verbal keynotes on the methods of
blessing to some selected acharyas who would apply the teachings to help
sentient beings to resolve their problems and end their sufferings.
As its purpose is to assist and benefit
sentient beings, practitioners should procure and use them with a very
respectful mind, and frequently thank and worship Golden Mother and Living
Buddha Lian Sheng for their compassion, their unimaginable merits and
blessings. With faiths, respect, and gratitude in mind, their prayers
accompanying the burning of the paper gold will produce miraculous
outcome.
2. Along with the five specific kinds of
heavenly-endorsed paper jewels from Jade Pond Golden Mother, Living Buddha
Lian Sheng has personally endorsed and propagated the use of two other
kinds of precious paper gold.
All seven kinds as follows:
1. The Paper Gold with the Karma Removal Dharani Mantra of the Seven
Buddhas:
We, as a secular human, have accumulated bad karma in our past due to
ignorance, causing all kinds of hindrances and obstacles to our current
daily lives. Our wishes, even though great ones, may not come true as a
result. Burning this paper gold helps alleviate/remove our bad karma.
2. Paper Gold for Wishes-come-true:
This is for improving ones’ business revenue, obtaining great deals,
leading a successful career, and accomplishing ones wishes, etc.
3. Paper Gold for Harmony:
Should there be fights, conflicts, quarrels, or relationships turning sour
between co-workers at work, business partners, family members, husband and
wife, mother-in-law and wife and/ or sisters-in-law etc, burning this
paper gold will help improve the situation, bringing back the much needed
harmony and cooperation.
4. Paper Gold for Healing:
This paper gold helps ones to recover from general illnesses, or
sicknesses of strange, unknown causes. It also helps alleviate/remove ones
bad karma.
5. Paper Gold for Deliverance of Spirits by Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva:
This paper gold helps alleviate/remove one’s bad karma in the past life
and/or the severe karma due to one’s killings of some sentient beings’
lives. It is also good for delivering ones’ ancestors to the Western
Pure Land or ending the sufferings of those spirits in the hell realm.
Ones who have strong sense of filial piety in mind, burning this paper
gold benefits not only ones’ ancestors, but one’s health, career, or
business also. Other forms of usage include funerals, burials at the grave
yard and/or the Chinese tomb-cleaning occasions.
6. True Buddha Paper Gold:
The use of this paper gold is endorsed by Living Buddha Lian Sheng. On
burning this paper gold, chanting the True Buddha Sutra to reinforce the
power of blessing helps bring upon wonders. One can use it in one’s
prayers for any secular needs and/or wishes to come true.
7. Great Fortune Paper Gold:
The use of this paper gold is also endorsed by Living Buddha Lian Sheng.
This paper gold has gotten a very secretive imprint, carrying the symbol
of great fortune, which is popularly received and honored by all gods of
fortune. Burning this paper gold will bring upon one’s wealth, success,
and the camaraderie and support from the significant others.
Methods: The above five kinds of paper jewels from Jade Pond Golden Mother
can be used on either the first and fifteenth of the lunar month, or the
second and sixteenth of the lunar month for ones’ prayers in the
temple/local chapters, the Chinese Qing Ming festival dedicated to
gratifying (and giving offerings to) ones’ ancestors, and/or other
festivals or special occasions. They can also be used (burnt in fire)
along with other ordinary joss papers. Should there be a matter/wish of
special importance, the practitioner may like to go burning some incense,
facing west and say his/her joss-paper prayers similar to the following at
nine, every night:
With faith, respect, and gratitude, this is disciple XXX, hereby praying
to the Heavenly Jade Pond Golden Mother, Padmakumara, Buddhas, gods in the
vicinity, and the spiritual generals of the four directions. Please help
me on a particular request for whosoever with whatsoever ...
Only upon one’s full-focused prayers
with faiths, respect, and gratitude, the wonderful and miraculous response
may occur. As all paper gold have been blessed with various special
mantras and secretive verbal keynotes, given one’s great faiths,
respect, and gratitude, the heavenly gods who receive them will be happy
to grant one’s wishes.
Remark: Once receiving the fruitful
response through this practice, the disciple/practitioner should maintain
virtuous, and work on accomplishing all kinds of merits on caring for
sentient beings, donating money, personally helping the unfortunate ones
etc, which will then continuously add on to one’s fortune and spiritual
wisdom.
